All about my class
Welcome to Mrs. Thomas's Social Studies class where all students are Ichiban!!!In this class you're expected to do your best at all time.

Mission Statement: Our Mission at the Julia Landon College Preparatory and Leadership Development School is to create college bound students with a deep commitment to public service and a true understanding of their leadership skills within the global community.

Course Overview: This course focuses on world history beginning with prehistory and finishing with the Renaissance. Students will focus on the begiining of civilizations. We concentrate on culture, religion, government, and the daily lives of peole in these civilizations.

Homework/Late Work Policy: Class Assignments and Projects will receive a deduction.

Make-up Work Policy: When absent from class, it is the STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY to check with teacher, peers, or BLOG about work missed. For each day absent, an equal number of days are allowed to complete make-up assignments. If an absence is due to planned travels, parents should notify teachers in writing at least two days in advance prior to the absence. A request for assignments is essential. In case of illness lasting three or more days, assignments may be requested through the Guidance Office at 346-5650 ext.114. Please allow 24 hours for work to be complied by the teacher.

Grade Recovery Policy: Students will be reuiqred to attempt grade recovery as outlined in the Duval County Pupil Progression Plan found on the Duval County Public Schools web page. (http://www.duvalschools.org/)

Parent/Teacher Conferences: Parent must call the guidance counselor to schedule an appointment for a parent/team conference. Please note you will be meeting with all teachers at this conference.

Tutoring Schedule: As determined by the parent and teacher after a conference.

Grading Scale: Students will be evaluated in accordance with the standard Duval County Public Schools’ grading scale.

Progress Reports: In addition to report cards issued at the end of each quarter, students will receive progress reports. The schedule of progress reports are posted at Julia Landon Middle School website.
